Why Does The Cost Of Braces Differ From Practice to Practice?
Many of our patients are surprised that the cost of braces can differ dramatically between practices as they assume treatment plans and results should be similar.
While I hate to use this analogy, comparing orthodontic treatment costs is similar to a shopping experience. Different offices, different practices, and different doctors utilize different systems to address and correct orthodontic concerns.
So why are treatment fees higher or lower from one orthopedic practice to another?
In some cases, it’s an easy conversation – in that one practice accepts certain insurances while another does not – which explains the difference in treatment fees.
Or if a patient is looking for a low-end orthopedic office for braces at a significant discount. There’s a range of treatments that orthodontic practices offer to achieve different goals. It’s up to the patient to examine and compare different treatment plans. Although fees are a big consideration, you should also consider the experience and type of treatment you will receive.
We always recommend patients avoid letting finances control their health care decisions. There will be differences in fees due to the reasons mentioned above.
Think of it this way. If you are looking to receive exceptional orthodontic service, there is a difference between correcting your bite and straightening your teeth versus simply straightening your teeth.
There are bite and functional issues that arise if you only want to have your front teeth straightened. Rather than focusing on the cost, we recommend patients focus on the doctor and what they can offer.
In the end, your decision should be based on the answers to really good questions. In future videos, I will give you the important questions to ask at your orthodontic consultation.
